Biopsy Go Ahead!

It's all scheduled for tomorrow! We ask you one more time for your prayers and that our little man isn't in too much pain for too long.

Not long now, it's really truly like, 12 days or something - and home!! Unbelievable!!

Lots of love

What A Unit.....

Rocky has been packing on the pounds since his feeding regime (the tube) has been increased. I never knew an extra 200g (since Monday!) could be so heavy.
Go Rocky!

Biopsy Delayed Til Next Wednesday....

There are a couple of things in the way, one being a recent bout of bad bacteria has upset his tummy and the other, some issues with his levels (bi-carb) in his body. Dr Markert wants it to be all good before he goes in for the biopsy.
So we are hoping those will correct and it is planned for next Wednesday. We'll keep you posted!

Operation Thymus Under Inspection...

Well, Tuesday is the big day - biopsy is being done. We will be in hospital overnight Tuesday and possibly Wednesday.
We've had a huge week at the hospital, in every day over the weekend as well getting labs and some IV fluids because (just to keep us on our toes!) something is a bit askew with Rocky's bi-carb. They are still investigating but think it could be a result of the latest reduction in the steriods.

We should know the results of the biopsy within a few days of the surgery, keep your fingers crossed, this is the big TEST.

A good result means we'll be home in about 3 weeks - YAY!!

Or Not....

Today in a true show of 'free will'', Rocky finally got that tube and ripped it out. He's been playing with it during the day, must have been secretly planning it all along. I just knew he was too happy in his cot this arvo, sure enough, chewing on his NG tube.
If only he knew it's going back in on Friday..... : (

Ve 'ave vays of making you eat...

This has been on the cards for some time as Rocky has not really been gaining any weight. Today he got an NG (nasal gastric) tube because he recently lost about 200g (alot for someone his age) in about 4 days. I don't know what's gone wrong because Brett and I adore food, and somehow I cannot get Rocky that interested! Maybe I should try to flavour the milk - chocolate mmmmmmmmmmmm.

I did the botch job of the tape, they had to stop me from taping his whole head like a mummy to make sure it stays there. It's a long trip home with nothing to do for him, so I got paranoid and went mad with the tape. Tomorrow, when he is feeling less stressed about it all, I will attempt to make it look a little more attractive.

Anyhow, while it was stressful for him AND me to get the tube down, it will help with the weight gain and has the added advantage of being able to put the meds straight down the tube. So I can give him late night meds without waking him and also, top up his feeds (he can still drink with the bottle and eat food) by putting uneaten amounts of milk down.

The major effort is ensuring he does not use his manly strength to rip it out. YIKES! Wish us luck.

It's Two Thirty....LOL

Okay, well it appears some fangs are on their way. No bottom teeth yet as far as we can tell, just two front ones like Peter Rabbit. How cute!! Sorry Rocky in advance for the shot up your nose - it's not easy getting you to show us your teeth - you always thought we were trying to give you meds!! Sorry mate - don't hate me when you are older!

Surf's Up!

Thanks Uncle Mike for my rad new shirt. Now I just need a surf board and a beach and I'll be the biggest beach babe there is. I don't have any ''abs'' yet, but I am working on them. I am only 9 mths old you know.
Things are good here. Everything is booked for the biopsy on 22nd May, so all on track.
I can't believe we are so close to coming home. It seems like a bit of a dream. It just seems like so long ago we were crying about the fate of our son. And here we are post transplant, he is doing so well, and we are on the cusp of a 'full' life together. It's amazing.
Hope yáll having a nice day, whatever you are up to - and áve a great weekend ; )
